On the Moon, regolith being an important source of metals and oxygen, it is possible to produce energy from this resource during the 14 days without sunlight. Iron, in particular, which is the preferred fuel on Earth, is one of the most abundant elements in the Earth&#8217;s crust (and regolith). Its high temperature oxidation generates heat without CO2 emissions and rust that is easily recoverable and regenerable using renewable energies. The interest of metals as fuels lies in the ease (and safety) of transport and storage (high energy density) of green energies.
